With a General Election coming soon, we want to help ensure the voices and opinions of people with learning disabilities and autism are heard, and everyone gets to cast their vote to decide who governs our country.
It wasn’t so long ago that we were enjoying the late summer sunshine on our tenants’ residential at Calvert Lakes near Keswick, and it was obviously something that everyone enjoyed given the number of requests we had for another holiday just like it.
A Fairoak Housing Association tenant has achieved a place on a national housing advisory panel and has already made it clear that the voice of tenants with learning disabilities and supported housing is going to be heard.
Throughout each year, our Housing & Support Officers visit every tenant in their home a minimum of four times. The purpose is to check and physically inspect every property to ensure that they are safe and in a good state of repair, whilst taking the opportunity to catch up with our tenants and their support staff.
During the second half of 2023, Fairoak undertook an exercise to re-define our core purpose, the reason why we exist as an organisation and the purpose for all our activities.

Fairoak welcomed councillors from Westmorland and Furness Council as part of the National Housing Federation’s Starts at Home campaign.
