When you live in a Fairoak home, you pay:
- Rent for your home.
- Service charges for the services we provide where you live.
The amount you pay depends on the type of home you live in and the services available at your property.
What do service charges pay for?
Service charges help cover the cost of shared services and areas. These may include:
- Looking after gardens and outdoor spaces.
- Cleaning shared hallways and communal areas.
- Window cleaning.
- Communal lighting.
- Fire safety and security systems.
- Other services provided at your property like your alertacall tablet.
Not every property receives the same services, so service charges can be different from one home to another.
How will I know what I have to pay?
Before you move in, we will explain:
- Your weekly rent.
- Your service charges.
- What services are included.
- Any charges that are not covered by Housing Benefit or Universal Credit.
You will receive a clear breakdown of these costs.
Help with paying rent and service charges
Many Fairoak tenants receive help through Housing Benefit or the housing costs element of Universal Credit.
We can support you to:
- Apply for benefits.
- Understand what costs are covered.
- Get advice if you are worried about paying your rent or service charges.
Annual review
We review rents and service charges every year. We will write to you at least four weeks before the new charges start.
