Asbestos is a material that was used in some older buildings. It is usually safe if it is not damaged or disturbed. It can be harmful if it is broken, drilled, sanded or removed in the wrong way.
We keep information about asbestos in our homes where we know about it.
We arrange asbestos checks when they are needed. A trained person will check materials before repair or building work starts.
Please do not touch, drill, sand or remove anything you think may contain asbestos. Tell us if you are worried, or if something looks damaged.
Tenants also have responsibilities. This includes:
- looking after your home
- reporting repairs quickly
- letting us or our contractors in to do repairs
- telling us if a repair gets worse
- telling us if you cannot keep an appointment
Some work is planned in advance. This might include:
- decorating shared areas
- replacing kitchens or bathrooms
- work to roofs, windows or doors
- safety improvements
- other work to keep homes in good condition
We will tell tenants when planned work is due to happen.
Please contact us if:
- a repair has not been done
- the problem has come back
- the repair has made things worse
- you are unhappy with the repair
- you have not heard from us
We will look into it and tell you what will happen next.
If you are still unhappy, you can make a complaint.
