There was plenty of festive fun for all as around 50 Fairoak tenants and support workers from across Cumbria enjoyed the annual Christmas party on Monday 18th December.
This year we chose a new and rather grand venue for our party, The Carnegie Theatre & Arts Centre in Workington, a quite brilliant facility that hosts theatre, dance and music events as well as being a great community resource for occasions like our Christmas party.
All Fairoak tenants were invited to come along to the party and the invite was taken up by 20 from Kendal with a bus organised for the journey there and back.

There were also plenty of party-goers from West Cumbria with tenants from nearly all of the shared properties, and many of those living separately, all joining us for a few hours of games, a disco and a delicious party buffet to enjoy.
The disco itself was run by two Fairoak tenants, Mike and Lily, who had us all on the dance floor and showing our best moves – John Holmes is now quite famous for his ‘Cha, Cha Slide’!
Mike and Lily also kindly hosted the bingo and were great at calling the numbers and keeping everyone involved, especially the three prize winners – Katie, Luke and Emily.

“It was really great to host the Christmas party in West Cumbria this year and we were thrilled to have so many attend, and especially lovely to see so many from West Cumbria joining us.” said Fairoak’s Chief Executive, Lisa Chant.
“The Christmas party has become a real highlight in the calendar and it’s a great chance for a lot of the tenants to meet new friends or catch up with those they haven’t seen for a while.”
“We’re hoping to have more events in the future which will, like this, open to all our tenants. Being spread across such a large area it’s understandable that not everyone can make it but we’re doing our best to make these accessible to as many people as possible.”
Last year, Fairoak held their Christmas party in Barnard Castle which was well attended by tenants from the North East, as well as a good number from Cumbria making the journey across.
