Once again it has been a very busy and exciting year for everyone involved with Fairoak and the annual report includes information on what we have been doing in the past 12 months and plans for the year ahead.
We hope you are having a great new year and are looking forward to spring. You’ve all been involved in lots of activities and events since our last newsletter and we know there are many more exciting things coming up in 2025.
As we head into the colder winter months, we wanted to remind you of some of the great activities you have done over the summer of 2024.
Fairoak Housing Association is celebrating a significant milestone as 2024 marks our 20th anniversary.

Pippa Smith is the Labour party candidate for Westmorland & Lonsdale who has agreed to support the Learning Disability England’s Good Lives Manifesto and Pledge Card. But rather than just sending her response, asked if she could come and meet us.
Staying safe online is something we talk about regularly with our tenants, but it’s also something that we at Fairoak take very seriously ourselves, and this is why we recently embarked on the lengthy process to become Cyber Essentials Plus certified.
Alison and James have been contacting candidates standing for the Westmorland & Lonsdale constituency in the General Election to ask them to pledge their support for an accessible election – here you’ll find their responses.
With a General Election coming soon, we want to help ensure the voices and opinions of people with learning disabilities and autism are heard, and everyone gets to cast their vote to decide who governs our country.
The Fairoak Owls discussed the barriers they face when accessing healthcare, something which they and many other people with a learning disability or people with autism often experience.
It wasn’t so long ago that we were enjoying the late summer sunshine on our tenants’ residential at Calvert Lakes near Keswick, and it was obviously something that everyone enjoyed given the number of requests we had for another holiday just like it.
A Fairoak Housing Association tenant has achieved a place on a national housing advisory panel and has already made it clear that the voice of tenants with learning disabilities and supported housing is going to be heard.
Throughout each year, our Housing & Support Officers visit every tenant in their home a minimum of four times. The purpose is to check and physically inspect every property to ensure that they are safe and in a good state of repair, whilst taking the opportunity to catch up with our tenants and their support staff.
