About Fairoak > The Company

Fairoak Housing Association is a small independent charity that provides a wide range of accommodation for people with learning disabilities. The association is based in Cumbria but as part of its business plan is seeking development opportunities within other counties.

We pride ourselves on our ability to offer our tenants a choice of accommodation individually tailored to tenants requirements, however complex they may be. All our homes are modern and comfortable and provide ordinary living close to all community facilities.

Tenant Services Authority

On the 8 January 2009 Fairoak Housing Association became a Registered Social Landlord (RSL) with the Tenant Services Authority. Our registered number is L4535. The Tenant services Authority was set up in 2008 and replaces the Housing Corporation.  The goal of the Tenant Services Authority is to raise the standards of services for housing tenants. If you would like to find out more about the TSA go to their website www.tenantservicesauthority.org.

Independent Housing Ombudsman Scheme

Fairoak Housing Association is a member of the Housing Ombudsman Scheme. If you have a complaint about Fairoak Housing which you feel has not been dealt with satisfactorily then you can use the Housing Ombudsman Service. For more details visit their website www.housing-ombudsman.org.uk or telephone them on 08457 125 973. The Housing Ombudsman Scheme is outlined in a leaflet that can be downloaded here (download leaflet).

Sponsorship & Bequests

Donations and property bequests allow Fairoak Housing Association to continue to expand the options available to customers. If you would like to discuss this further and/or make a donation please contact us.

Recruitment

The Association is expanding and recruits additional staff from time to time. Job opportunities are advertised on this web page. Unfortunately we have no job vacancies at present.

Fairoak Housing Association is a member of the National Housing Federation which represents 1,400 independent, not-for-profit housing associations in England and is the voice of affordable housing. The Association also subscribes to the "iN Business to support people" ethos, a national alliance of housing associations working to create good neighbourhoods across England.
