Friends of Fairoak

Fairoak Housing Association is a not-for-profit organisation providing supported accommodation for people with learning disabilities.

Fairoak provides safe, accessible and supportive accommodation that meets the needs of our tenants and our aim is to allow them to lead as independent and fulfilling lives as possible.

In recent times, many of our tenants have had their support packages reduced and this can lead to feelings of loneliness and social isolation. To help combat this, we have launched ‘Friends of Fairoak’.

Our hope is that by recruiting volunteers to befriend our tenants, they will be able to learn new skills and access leisure and social activities that are available in the community.

Funding our activities

We rely on donations and funding to provide activities for our tenants. We do this by holding fundraising events such as sponsored walks and coffee mornings. We also apply for funding grants from funders such as The Frieda Scott Charitable Trust, The Hadfield Trust, Cumbria Community Foundation, Kendal Town Council and The Royal Horticultural Society. These help to fund our activities and our tenants holidays.
