For three days in July, staff and tenants of Fairoak Housing Association embarked on a short holiday with a difference at the Calvert Trust in Keswick.
The Calvert Trust is a residential outdoor centre which specialises in providing challenging outdoor adventure holidays for people of all ages and abilities.
Based close to the shores of Bassenthwaite Lake in the heart of the Lake District, the centre provided the perfect base for the break with lots of different and exciting activities which everyone was able to take part in.
The activities included horse riding, archery, orienteering, bush craft, canoeing, a high ropes course and zip wire.
“The weekend was a great success with everyone having a fantastic time.” says Kate Forshaw, Housing and Support Officer at Fairoak. “This is the first holiday like this we have organised and were delighted that so many of our tenants took the opportunity to spend a few days away in the great setting of the Calvert Trust and try new activities.”
The weekend introduced a lot of new experiences for everyone, including all of the Fairoak team who the tenants ensured fully took part in every activity.
“At the end of each action-packed day there was also plenty of time to enjoy each other’s company and socialise in a relaxed environment.” adds Kate, “It really was a lovely three days and we’re already being asked when we can do it again!”
Fairoak would like to thank everyone at the Lake District Calvert Trust for making our holiday such an enjoyable and memorable time – we are sure to be back again soon!
